A Novice Only Pinball Tournament

Date and Time

Saturday, April 18th, 2015.

Start time is 3pm, and registration will open at 2pm.

Scarlet City is open starting at 8am on Saturdays, so players are welcome to arrive as early as they like to practice.

Eligibility

The tournament is open to any player who is not ranked 3,000 or better by the International Flipper Pinball Association (IFPA).

If you don't know your ranking, that most likely means you are eligible to participate.

Location

Scarlet City Espresso Bar, 3960 Adeline Street, Emeryville, CA.

Cost to Play

$5 entry fee, plus the cost of games played during the tournament.

Format

Two hours of group play with 4-3-2-1 scoring. Each round, you will be drawn randomly into a group with three other players and assigned a machine. Your group will play one four player game on that machine. Whoever gets the highest score gets 4 points, the next highest score gets 3 points, the next highest score gets 2 points, and the lowest score gets 1 point. When all the groups have finished playing, new groups will be drawn and we'll do it again.

At the end of two hours, the eight players who have earned the most points will advance to a round of playoffs which will determine the final rankings.

Awards

All cash from entry fees will be paid out to players as prizes. There will be awards and cash prizes for the top four players, as well as the highest placing woman player and first-time tournament player.

Additionally, we have several other fun prizes that will be awarded to some lucky participating players via a random drawing following the qualifying portion of the event.

Current machines at Scarlet City are Demolition Man (Williams, 1994), Star Trek: The Next Generation (Williams, 1993), Terminator 2 (Williams, 1991), Genesis (Gottlieb, 1986), and Space Invaders (Bally, 1980).
